Elden Ring also features a robust magic system that lets players use several types of incantations and sorceries. These consist of both offensive and defensive spells, and players can even go for hybrid builds that focus on melee combat but utilize magical abilities to buff their attacks. Magic can be extremely overpowered and some strategies let gamers defeat bosses in a single hit. However, one Elden Ring player found out that a pure magic build comes with its fair share of disadvantages.

A Reddit user named OneCrewOneScrew has shared a clip of their fight against a Crystalian boss. The player is using a magic build in Elden Ring but is out of both FP and Flasks of Cerulean Tears. Additionally, they don’t have any melee weapons in their inventory. As seen in the video, the enemy is just a few hits away from dying, and OneCrewOneScrew has no intentions of giving up.
OneCrewOneScrew ultimately resorts to repeatedly hitting the Crystalian boss with the Carian Regal Scepter, one of the best staffs in Elden Ring, dealing 8 damage with every strike. Each hit interrupts the enemy’s attack animation, and a resilient OneCrewOneScrew wins the fight. They mention that they ran out of FP after the first Crystalian died and cut down the video to only show the ending.
This fight takes place in the Academy Crystal Cave near Elden Ring’s Raya Lucaria Academy in the second major region of the game. Users encounter two Crystalians in this boss fight and obtain the Crystal Release sorcery after defeating them. Blunt weapons like hammers and flails do massive damage to all Crystalians, and players are not even required to upgrade them to gain the upper hand.
One fan jokingly mentions that this Elden Ring video shows peak sorcerer gameplay, while others commend OneCrewOneScrew for their improvised tactic. A user named UnHappyIrishman calculated the number of hits it took to defeat the enemy. According to this comment, it took OneCrewOneScrew 142 hits, and they had to swing nonstop for over two minutes to beat the Crystalian.
Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
