Reddit user Tenshiretto recently posted a clip of their adventure in Elden Ring in which they’re fighting Margit, one of Elden Ring’s bosses. Margit is an optional Elden Ring boss, but players may want to gain access to Stormveil Castle eventually, and defeating the boss rewards players with a Talisman slot. While Tenshiretto’s battle unfolds with Margit, the boss seems to get confused by the player’s regular rolling, a technique that’s necessary to conquer Elden Ring’s greatest foes.

Tenshiretto’s clip begins with the player at full health near Stormveil Castle, while Margit has already lost about one-eighth of his sizable health pool. Margit quickly attacks with his staff before jumping away and taking a swipe at the Elden Ring player with his Swing Flurry. Tenshiretto gets a few hits in on the Great Enemy Boss while dodging each attack until Margit finally strikes the player with its staff and tries to capitalize on Tenshiretto’s stutter. Because of Tenshiretto rolling repeatedly to avoid being hit again, Margit gets stuck winding up for a swing with his staff that never happens.
Margit circles with his weapon raised to track Tenshiretto’s movements but never unleashes the assault, as he seemingly forgets which of the six potential attacks to use on the Elden Ring player. Elden Ring fans who choose not to battle Margit will miss out on one of the large Legacy Dungeons included in the ARPG, with others including Raya Lucaria Academy and Volcano Manor. Because Tenshiretto’s clip shows the early part of their encounter with Margit, the fight may have gotten more intense if the boss had avoided lengthy pauses like the one in Tenshiretto’s video.
Although Tenshiretto was rolling several times as Margit waited to attack them, it’s still not fully clear what causes the optional Elden Ring boss to remain so susceptible. Tenshiretto’s clip ends before the conclusion of the combat, but because of this stutter, it appears the player could’ve gotten some quick shots in if they stopped rolling around, but that also may have triggered the expected attack. Like other FromSoftware titles, Elden Ring players can group up to take on Margit, and if they’re able to trigger the same response from the enemy, it should make the fight easier.
