Elden Ring has an unorthodox approach to its multiplayer system. Players have to use consumable items in Elden Ring to access multiplayer functions. While a lot of players have taken issue with the accessibility of Elden Ring’s multiplayer, it has still allowed for some of the most memorable experiences in the game, such as getting invaded, dueling, and then losing thousands of runes, preventing leveling up, and then seeking revenge on the invader. But instead of dueling when an invader stepped into a player’s world, the Elden Ring player and the invader worked together to use the game’s animation locks to skip a lot of the game.

In a video posted to Reddit by user Mr_Pixelboy, the players use a stunlock animation from a critical hit in order to survive a fall down an elevator shaft that is normally not accessible until late in the game at Leyndell, Royal Capital. By invading for PvP instead of cooperating, the players are able to target each other, which makes this whole thing possible. By using this trick, both players survive the fall down the elevator shaft and are now able to skip a huge part of the game. This is just one of many areas that can be skipped for speed runs; another discovered skip in Leyndell allows players to skip part of the sewers in Elden Ring.

The area that the players are at in the video is the Divine Bridge, which can be accessed from a teleporter in the Stormveil Castle dungeon, the first major dungeon in Elden Ring. Normally, there is very little for the player to do at this point in the game at the Divine Bridge, but by using this trick, the player can skip from the first major dungeon all the way to one of the last ones in the game at the Capital.

Elden Ring players have been busy ever since the game’s release. The game’s sheer scope and size and grand sense of exploration have allowed players to come up with all kinds of strategies, challenge runs, and glitches that skip segments of the game. While this player invaded and was set to duel the player, they worked together to find a new way of accessing and exploring the Lands Between. The Elden Ring community continues to work together to find unique ways to experience the game, even months after release.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Series X/S.
