Due to the unprecedented success of Elden Ring, it is no surprise that its modding community has exploded in popularity. At the time of this writing, the Nexus Mods page for the game states that there are over 1,400 files available to download and 3.5 million user downloads already completed. This is an impressive accomplishment for a game that has been out for less than six months. Some of the more interesting community creations involve bringing pop culture icons into the world of Elden Ring and funny mods that pit the game’s various bosses against each other.

In a crossover between Elden Ring and Avatar: The Last Airbender, user cleverraptor6 has created a mod that lets players wield flames in combat, much like the firebenders from its cartoon inspiration. Officially titled the “Firebending Moveset,” cleverrapter6’s creation features a custom fire-based attack for every combat style in Elden Ring. One-handed attacks let players shoot fireballs from their hands, while two-handed attacks focus heavily on close-quarters combat with animations that mimic those in Avatar. It also includes the Lightning Generation Ash of War, which expels three devastating lightning projectiles at enemies.

Cleverraptor6’s Firebending Moveset appears to be quite effective, making quick work of early bosses like Godrick and Morgott while easily staggering the late-game Dragonlord Placidusax. Work on the Elden Ring mod is ongoing, but some exciting features have recently been added to the Firebending Moveset. Notably, cleverrapter6 has added the capability to dual-wield fire attacks along with an optional download that changes the fire color to Princess Azula’s iconic blue flame. Already, fans of Elden Ring can often be found in the Lands Between cosplaying as their favorite pop culture characters, so the Firebending Moveset might be a mod they won’t want to miss.

FromSoftware’s games are no strangers to incredible community creations. Mods for the Souls series of games ranged from simple quality of life improvements to extensive overhauls that could be considered unofficial DLC packs. Elden Ring is already following the same trend of high-quality fan-generated mods. Recently, the modding community has begun work on the Elden Ring Convergence mod, which promises to shake up the game with new weapons, bosses, and redesigned areas but is likely still far from release.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
