As most Dark Souls veterans know, parrying is something of an art form unto itself. Different shields and enemies all have new quirks to learn, and learning to reliably parry is something most player never bother with. Though some community members spent multiple hours in-game teaching their Elden Ring co-op summons how to parry, it’s an uncommon tactic, which makes YouTube user Paddy Vu’s accomplishment all the more impressive.

Entering Margit’s arena nearly naked brandishing two katanas, the player barely needed to move as they flawlessly parried just about every move the boss made. Only stopping to evade Margit’s second-phase opening attack, the encounter was cleared in less than a minute, and the boss likely retreated to Lyndell, dreading the day he’d have to face the Tarnished once again. It’s true that other players have accomplished similar feats; one Reddit user managed to no-hit Margit without rolling, blocking, jumping, or parrying a few weeks after the game’s release. That’s undeniably impressive, but, given how tricky parrying can be, Paddy Vu’s accomplishment is worthy of equal merit.
Of course, incredible feats such as these are accomplished quite often in the soulsborne community. The pinnacle of no-hit achievements in FromSoftware games likely came in October 2021 when streamer The Happy Hob completed every soulsborne game back-to-back without taking a hit. That’s everything from the comparatively clunky Demon’s Souls to the notoriously-tricky Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice with nary a single tick of unnecessary damage being taken.
With that in mind, Paddy Vu could well be on their way to claiming a similar achievement. Already having demonstrated incredible knowledge of the game’s mechanics, larger feats certainly seem feasible for a player of their caliber. There’s always a new goal to shoot for in these games, as well, and, once a proper no-hit run is completed, players can shift to killing every boss without taking a hit, or perhaps giving the devilish “hard mode” Elden Ring mod a shot.
