In a recent video shared to the Elden Ring subreddit, Reddit user Chosen-Bearer-Of-Ash shows what happens when taking a faith build into a fight with a Crucible Knight. While the player fights well for most of the clip, things suddenly go sideways while trying to gather their own strength and heal up to survive another relentless attack.

The clip starts with both the player and the enemy Crucible Knight at low health, implying that this fight may have been going on for a while before reaching this point. However, when the player attempts to use the incantation Great Heal to regain some hit-points before jumping back into the fight, the Crucible Knight steps into the area of effect on the spell. While this incantation isn’t supposed to have any effect on enemies like most of Elden Ring’s attacking spells, the Crucible Knight’s health ticks up a notch along with the player’s.
This can be quite the surprise when players run into it for the first time, as most other enemies don’t benefit from being within the area of effect of a healing incantation. In fact, there are some enemy mobs that can actually be damaged by Elden Ring’s healing magic, offering a dual use for many of these incantations. That being said, an enemy like the Crucible Knight being able to heal from walking in range is so rare that some comments on the original Reddit post wonder if it wasn’t a glitch. Although, several other players have previously reported this happening in their own playthroughs as well.
The bag of tricks that these enemies have can already lead to devastating losses against Crucible Knights in Elden Ring. So finding that the player’s own healing can essentially reset the fight to zero if not taking perfect care for enemy placement just continues to show how intimidating these enemies can be. Enemies like this continue to show off Elden Ring as one of the most difficult experiences that FromSoftware has crafted so far, making dealing with these types of encounters feel like a huge accomplishment each time.
Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
