Released in 2022 after years of eager anticipation from gamers, Elden Ring marks developer FromSoftware’s first attempt at making a truly open-world game. Expanding on the developer’s trademark tough-but-fair combat and featuring worldbuilding crafted by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, Elden Ring became an immediate critical and commercial success upon release. One bizarre character from the game’s promotional material that became a hit with gamers was Iron Fist Alexander, a warrior jar that inspired fan creations ranging from drawings to an adorable Iron Fist Alexander crochet doll.

In a post on r/Eldenring, Reddit user Intelligentgandalv shared a screenshot of the Shard of Alexander item and pointed out a disturbing detail about the item’s description. Obtainable by players who complete the entirety of Alexander’s quest line and defeat him in a warrior’s duel, the Shard of Alexander is a piece of the pot himself bearing a description that implies a gruesome fate for Elden Ring boss Radahn. Accompanying a photo of a pottery shard covered in gore and hair, the text describes bits of flesh clinging to the shard along with “Relics of a red-haired champion,” leading Intelligentgandalv to ponder if Alexander ate Radahn after their fight.

Elden Ring fans responding to the post nearly unanimously agreed that the bumbling and often-humorous warrior pot Alexander did, indeed, eat the demigod Starscourge Radahn after helping the player battle the boss. Commenters pointed out numerous details in Elden Ring that back up this disgusting claim, such as the fact that the gold embedded in the Shard of Alexander looks remarkably similar to Radahn’s helmet. Other responses noted that, if players choose to summon Alexander Iron Fist during the battle with Radahn, it is possible to see the warrior pot devouring the demigod post-battle while commenting about collecting warrior bodies.

In a game full of unsettling bits of lore about friends and foes alike, it only makes sense that even one of the most comical characters would have their own dark secrets to hide. Though undeniably disgusting, this gory item illustrates how FromSoftware has incorporated worldbuilding into even the tiniest details of Elden Ring. And if the thought of the warrior pot devouring the deceased is just too much to bear, gamers can always cheer themselves up by checking out some hilarious photos of Alexander Iron Fist in random movie scenes.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
