It even says something when considering, at The Game Awards, FromSoftware’s previous game Sekiro won Game of the Year 2019 and God of War won in 2018. Either way, Elden Ring has proven to be a game fans can play time and again to discover something new, and God of War Ragnarok could very well give it a run for its money. Both are likely to retain players for quite some time. Many are still delving into The Lands Between, and with a little creativity and knowledge of the map, one PvP player scored an amazing win.

As shared by Redditor Over_Supermarket_609, they had invaded another Elden Ring player who had two allies with them. The invader was outnumbered and outgunned, with the other plays constantly pelting them with magic abilities. They ended up retreating, backing up, and moving around, constantly using healing flasks.
It was a tight spot, and it’s hard to imagine how Over_Supermarket_609 could win conventionally. So, it seems they decided to do it unconventionally. They managed to lure the host, the only player the invader truly needed to kill, toward a giant, random hole in the map. The invader timed it perfectly, as based on their position, they moved just when needed as the other Elden Ring player performed a jump attack…right down into the hole.
There are tons of ways to engage in PvP combat in Elden Ring, but knowledge of one’s surroundings goes a long way. Knowing that hole was so close likely saved the Redditor, as it was clear from the initial onslaught that victory was far from certain. It wasn’t really a matter of builds in Elden Ring, but sheer numbers.
It’ll be interesting to see how relevant Elden Ring remains for the next few months and years. It’s hard to see so far in the future, but it’s hard to imagine the game tapering off anytime soon. FromSoftware is presumably working on Elden Ring DLC, and if so, that could go a long way in putting more life into a game that hasn’t lost all that much since launch.
Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
