A game of United Combat can feature up to six players, with the teams being split evenly. Unlike Duel Mode, players will respawn if killed. After five minutes, the team with the most kills wins. Entering combat with the best knowledge and an idea of how to fight as a team is imperative for victory in a game as hard as Elden Ring.

7 Isolate Targets

Teaming up on one isolated target is one of the best ways to secure easy kills. As per the rules of the game, a team could just keep on killing the same player and come out ahead. Therefore, players should quickly identify any weak opponents, especially those lacking adequate parry and guard mechanics. Keep killing them while remaining on the defensive against any remaining enemies.

In the time before the unfortunate Tarnished respawns, players can either make use of the temporary numbers advantage, play safe, or even get in position to kill as soon as the respawn comes through. This tactic can also be deployed opportunistically, instead of focusing on the same player over and over.

6 Assign Counters

Many different play styles and builds are available to would-be Elden Lords, and certain weapons or spells fare better or worse in specific matchups. In United Combat, therefore, it is important to make sure it’s the enemy on the wrong end of the stick. By assigning allies to square off against enemies they counter, it is possible to have three separate winning fights going on simultaneously.

This kind of coordination is more likely to come to fruition when playing with friends or in scheduled tournaments where players can communicate. It also requires knowledge of counters, as well as the ability to play out a matchup as intended.

5 Healing & FP Restoration

Although players are able to use Flasks of Crimson and Cerulean Tears to heal and restore FP, they will only have access to one of each for every life. Therefore, it is important to use potions wisely and efficiently. For example, don’t heal for a small amount of missing health.

With a lack of restoration from potions at hand, the importance of arriving at a Colosseum with other forms of healing and FP restoration increases immensely. Whether in the form of incantations or Talismans such as the Assassin’s Crimson Dagger, which restores health with critical attacks, having the ability to regenerate will be incredibly frustrating for the enemy. Incantations that can heal allies naturally have even more prevalence in this mode.

4 Bring Lots Of Weapons

Part of winning more team fights in Elden Ring’s Colosseums is in the preparation. Players have to be ready to face any type of opponent who could be utilizing any build, and who themselves might have multiple weapons ready to be swapped in and out at a moment’s notice.

Having a variety of weapons, each with their own unique purpose, will enable players to counter any type of weapon or defense. For example, if the enemy trio are cosplaying as Roman Legionaries with a wall of tower shields, then the player needs to have access to attacks that cannot be blocked. For this tip, it is also important to practice swapping out weapons quickly to avoid unfortunate deaths.

3 Area Of Effect Damage

Unlike in a duel, players will normally be facing off against two or three opponents in United Combat. With this in mind, spells, incantations, and other abilities that deal damage in an area rise in value. An example of this would be the Dragonfire incantation, which has the potential to burn even three enemies at once.

Just as Area Of Effect abilities are strong for a player’s own team, it is also crucial to watch out for similar enemy attacks. When facing such spells, make sure to avoid clumping together and instead, spread out. Usually, such abilities will have a longer cast time, so take advantage of an opponent currently focusing on a teammate and crit them from behind.

2 Combos & Team Play

Experimenting and finding the best combos may be one of the best ways to win more team fights in Elden Ring’s latest multiplayer mode. With the sheer amount of weapons, spells, and attacks available, and a maximum of three players to a team, the possibilities of combos are endless.

The key is to be creative and combine abilities that would be impossible for one player to have all at once. As these combos might be hard to pull off, it would be best to try them out first in custom games that can be created using a password.

1 Optimize Spirit Ashes

When playing United Combat in The Caelid Colosseum, all players are able to summon Spirit Ashes to help out their team. By not doing so, or summoning weak Spirit Ashes, a player would be putting their team at a disadvantage. There are a range of Spirit Ashes available in the game, of which some are much stronger than others. The best Spirit Ashes are capable of inflicting serious damage.

The general strength of Spirit Ashes is not the only thing that players should consider. Some have Area of Effect damage or other unique attacks. Players should try to summon their helpful spirit as soon as the match begins before the enemy can close them down, and then upon dying and respawning, find a safe place to summon. Spirit Ashes can be upgraded using Grave or Ghost Gloveworts.

Elden Ring is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
