The point is that there are plenty of hardcore Skyrim fans, and many of them might appreciate an Elder Scrolls birthday surprise. One of these people turns out to be a Reddit user called testrazgovor, whose girlfriend recently gave them a Skyrim-themed birthday cake.

The Reddit user shared a photo on the Skyrim subreddit, much to the delight of their fellow fans. While testrazgovor didn’t mention the flavor or any other details about the cake, it certainly looks like a delicious tribute to the immersive open-world RPG. The circular cake is covered in what appears to be grey and black fondant, with the two sheets splitting it down the middle. The Reddit user’s girlfriend decorated the grey side with a fondant version of Skyrim’s logo. Meanwhile, an edible recreation of Skyrim’s Iron Helmet sits on top of the black half.
The cake is hardly the first case of an impressive Skyrim-themed dessert. However, it is undoubtedly a brilliant example of some real baking and decorating skills on the part of testrazgovor’s girlfriend. It certainly impressed a fair number of users on the Skyrim subreddit, with many giving the expected playful encouragements for testrazgovor to make their girlfriend their wife. One commenter even added that they actually did marry a girlfriend who gave them a Skyrim cake, proving that there is at least some precedent for the common joke becoming a reality.
There were also more than a few fans passing around Skyrim in-jokes in the comments. “Another hand has touched the cake!” begins the top comment under testrazgovor’s post. This is a somewhat misquoted reference to Skyrim’s infamously annoying “The Break of Dawn” quest, which plays a similar line after players find a quest item in random leveled loot. Another commenter presented a humorous scenario where testrazgovor is slicing the cake when their girlfriend says, “It’s a fine day with you around,” a standard line from Skyrim’s NPC. This story ends with the realization that they’re in a Skyrim-themed coma dream. A few variations of the “Arrow to the Knee” meme also made their way into the comments.
A few commenters also directed a bit of minor teasing toward the cake’s version of Skyrim’s Iron Helmet. One person compared it to a combination of Skyrim and Space Invaders, with another saying it reminded them of the original Ant-Man. Either way, it seems that at least one Skyrim fan had a fun birthday surprise.
