The Whorl of the Depths armor set is quickly becoming a favorite amongst Elder Scrolls Online DPS players as it applies a long-lasting effect that deals a significant amount of damage-over-time. It doesn’t require players to do anything new, either, as it procs based on Light Attacks that most DPS players weave between abilities already.
Whorl of the Depths Set Bonuses and Effects
The Whorl of the Depths armor set is a Light Armor set with equip bonuses and a full set bonus very useful for DPS builds across the board, though it thrives in Public content thanks to the three-piece equip bonus. With two and four pieces equipped, players gain 129 Weapon and Spell Damage, for a total of +258. With three pieces equipped, the Minor Slayer buff is granted, increasing all damage to Arena, Dungeon, and Trial enemies slightly.
With five pieces of the Whorl of the Depths armor set equipped, your Light Attacks will apply the Whorl of the Depths status effect on enemies. For eight seconds, this effect deals 988 Frost Damage every second. When the effect ends, a Whirlpool appears beneath the afflicted’s feet, dealing an additional 743 Frost Damage every second for six seconds. though powerful, this effect can only trigger every 18 seconds. The Perfected version of the set also adds 657 Critical Hit Chance for five pieces being equipped.
How To Get The Whorl of the Depths Armor Set
The Whorl of the Depths is one of four High Isle armor sets that can be acquired in the Dreadsail Reef Trial. Dreadsail Reef, located in the northwest of High Isle itself within the High Isle and Amenos zone, was added with the High Isle Chapter and can only be accessed (and completed) with a full party. Pieces to the Whorl of the Depths armor set drop throughout the Trial, particularly from each of the three major Bosses in Dreadsail Reef.
The Perfected version of this set, and all Trial-based armor sets, can be acquired by completing the harder version of Dreadsail Reef - Veteran Dreadsail Reef. Enemies hit harder, have more health, sometimes gain new moves, and the Trial’s difficulty in general is much harder. Only attempt to get the Perfected version of this set with a well-geared party that knows the Trial in and out.
