Malacath’s Band of Brutality is one such item in The Elder Scrolls Online, one that gives a flat bonus rather than a complicated effect. Its potential for increasing damage output for certain ESO builds is immense, but its drawback is pretty major for the majority of DPS builds that rely on Critical Chance.

What Is Malacath’s Band of Brutality?

Malacath’s Band of Brutality is an Elder Scrolls Online Mythic item introduced with the Greymoor Chapter, the same Chapter that introduced Antiquities. Mythic Items in ESO come in many forms, but almost all of them take up a single Equipment slot and provide an effect just about equivalent to a five-piece Armor Set bonus.

Malacath’s Band of Brutality is a Ring that increases all regular damage done by the wearer by 16% but reduces Critical Damage by 50%. It’s useful for builds that don’t take advantage of Critical Damage, like some Tank builds, but it’s not the worst tradeoff for DPS builds either. Players can still get Critical Hits, as Critical Chance is not affected, and the overall damage increase for every other form of damage more than makes up for this drawback.

How To Get Malacath’s Band of Brutality

As a Mythic Elder Scrolls Online item, players must be able to Scry Master-level Leads. There are five Leads associated with each ESO Mythic, and when Scryed they each lead to an Excavation zone where one piece of the Mythic can be Excavated. To Scry Master-level Leads, you need to reach Scrying 7 and spend four points in the Antiquarian’s Insight perk.

The five leads are found in various places across Tamriel. After they have all been found, the Mythic will automatically assemble in your Collections and be added to the Inventory for use. While some Mythics have five Leads that can be completed in the same zone, Malacath’s Band of Brutality takes players across the continent.
